Meizhou Baohu Energy Storage Power Station is located in Hedong Industrial Park, Wuhua County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. The energy storage power station project is conducive to the implementation of Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality Goals, the construction of a new power system, and the improvement of the reliability of Meizhou's power supply.

Meizhou Baohu energy storage power station project is a demonstration project of Guangdong Provincial Energy Bureau and China Southern Power Grid Corporation. Constructed by China Southern Power Grid Peak Regulation and Frequency Regulation (Guangdong) Energy Storage Technology Company, with a construction scale of 70MW/140MWh, it is the first 100MWh grid-side independent energy storage project of China Southern Power Grid. After completion, it can effectively promote the local consumption of new energy, ensure the safe and stable operation of the power system, and effectively drive and promote local economic and social development.
The project uses the latest immersion liquid cooling ESS developed by Kortrong Company, which can effectively improve the operation safety of the ESS. The project has entered the operation stage and is the first demonstration project in China and even in the world to apply immersion thermal management technology to electrochemical ESS.
Energy storage batteries will continue to heat up during operation, so cooling is a key factor affecting the safety of energy storage power plants. The project selected the immersion liquid cooling battery compartment independently designed by Kortrong, and immersed the battery in the insulating cooling liquid to completely solve the world's problem of battery safety.
Baohu energy storage power station participates in peak regulation and frequency regulation of the power grid, plays a role in peak shaving and valley filling, and improves the ability to absorb new energy. According to reports, based on the calculation of 1.75 times of charging and discharging per day, the energy storage power station can generate nearly 81 million kWh per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 45,000 tons. Meizhou Baohu Energy Storage Power Station took just over 4 months from construction to trial operation. According to reports, the power station equipment adopts a prefabricated cabin structure, and the main equipment of the system is placed in the container, which can be assembled and debugged on site, which greatly shortens the construction period, improves the safety construction level, and reduces the pressure of operation and maintenance.
This time, it is the first case to apply immersion liquid cooling and thermal management technology in the field of electrochemical energy storage. The surrounding hollow battery PACK is completely immersed in the cooling liquid, and the battery cells are in direct contact with the cooling liquid. Compared with air cooling ESS and plate-type liquid cooling ESS, immersion liquid cooling ESS has thermal runaway and no open flame in extreme cases, ensuring high safety and zero risk of the system.
Immersion liquid cooling ESS has many advantages such as good safety performance, high energy density, good thermal management effect, low noise, and strong environmental adaptability.
